Adam Thompson is an entrepreneur based out of Calgary, Alberta. Over the past 6 years he grew Friday Sock Co. from a solo side hustle to Calgary's favourite sock company with 10 employees and distribution to over 500 retailers. His latest venture, Monday on Mars, is an apparel brand that explores a number of themes using minimalistic embroidery. He was kind enough to answer a few question about the new brand and what we have to look forward to!
Let's start with the most obvious question. What is Monday on Mars??
What do you mean by 'explore different themes in a variety of ways'?
Ok, I think I get it. So, you could wear your favourite plant as a T-shirt and also have it on your socks?
Where is the clothing made?
Are your clothes made ethically?
Do you have any goals as it relates to manufacturing?
Will you manufacture in Canada?
Where is the embroidery done?
Has learning embroidery been fun?
What are your goals for the company?
Last question! Why Monday on Mars? What's with the name?
Our sister company Friday Sock Co. was named after my favourite day of the week. We also have a small candle company called Weekday Candles. So, first of all it was keeping with that theme. The big meaning behind it though is that I imagine a Monday on Mars to be a day filled with excitement, exploration, and curiosity. It's a bit of a twist on everyone's most dreaded day of the week. Also, I wanted to call us all Astro-nots.
